Laravel 10 Livewire Multi Step Form Wizard

If you’re interested in creating a multi-step form wizard in your Laravel 10 web application using Livewire, this tutorial guide is just what you need. By following this tutorial, you’ll be able to create a seamless multi-step form wizard in your Laravel application.

Laravel 10 Livewire Multi Step Form Wizard

By using the following steps, you’ll be able to create a seamless multi-step form wizard in your Laravel 10 application.

  • Step 1: Setup Laravel 10 Project
  • Step 2: Configure Database to Laravel App
  • Step 3: Create Model & Migration For File using Artisan
  • Step 4: Install Livewire Package
  • Step 5: Create Form Wizard Components
  • Step 6: Add Routes
  • Step 7: Create Blade View and Import Form Wizard Components
  • Step 8: Run Development Server

Step 1: Setup Laravel 10 Project

First of all, Open your terminal OR command prompt.

Then execute following command into it to install laravel fresh app for laravel in your server:

 composer create-project --prefer-dist laravel/laravel blog

Step 2: Configure Database to Laravel App

Once you have installed laravel app on your server. Now, you need to add database details in the .env file.

So open your project root directory and find .env file. Then add database detail in .env file:

DB_CONNECTION=mysql
DB_HOST=127.0.0.1
DB_PORT=3306
DB_DATABASE=here your database name here
DB_USERNAME=here database username here
DB_PASSWORD=here database password here

Step 3: Create Model & Migration For File using Artisan

In this step, generate model and migration file using the following command:

php artisan make:model Product -m

This command will create one model name Product.php and also create one migration that name create_products_table.php.

So, Navigate to database/migrations folder and open create_products_table.php file. Then update the following code into create_products_table.php file:

    public function up()
    {
        Schema::create('products', function (Blueprint $table) {
            $table->id();
            $table->string('name')->nullable();
            $table->longText('description')->nullable();
            $table->float('amount')->nullable();
            $table->boolean('status')->default(0);
            $table->integer('stock')->default(0);
            $table->timestamps();
        });
    }

Now, open your command prompt and run the following command to create the table into your database:

php artisan migrate

Now, Open App/Models/Product.php file and add the fillable properties:

<?php

namespace App\Models;

use Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\Factories\HasFactory;
use Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\Model;

class Product extends Model
{
    use HasFactory;

    /**
     * The attributes that are mass assignable.
     *
     * @var array
     */
    protected $fillable = [
        'name', 'amount', 'description', 'status', 'stock'
    ];
}

Step 4: Install Livewire Package

In this step, you need to install livewire package to your laravel project using the following command:

composer require livewire/livewire

Step 5: Create Form Wizard Components

In this step, create the livewire components for creating a livewire form wizard component using the following command. So Open your cmd and run the following command:

php artisan make:livewire wizard

This command will create the following components on the following path:

app/Http/Livewire/Wizard.php
resources/views/livewire/wizard.php

Now, Navigate to app/Http/Livewire folder and open Wizard.php file. Then add the following code into your Wizard.php file:

<?php

namespace App\Http\Livewire;

use Livewire\Component;
use App\Models\Product;

class Wizard extends Component
{
    public $currentStep = 1;
    public $name, $amount, $description, $status = 1, $stock;
    public $successMessage = '';

    /**
     * Write code on Method
     *
     * @return response()
     */
    public function render()
    {
        return view('livewire.wizard');
    }

    /**
     * Write code on Method
     *
     * @return response()
     */
    public function firstStepSubmit()
    {
        $validatedData = $this->validate([
            'name' => 'required|unique:products',
            'amount' => 'required|numeric',
            'description' => 'required',
        ]);

        $this->currentStep = 2;
    }

    /**
     * Write code on Method
     *
     * @return response()
     */
    public function secondStepSubmit()
    {
        $validatedData = $this->validate([
            'stock' => 'required',
            'status' => 'required',
        ]);

        $this->currentStep = 3;
    }

    /**
     * Write code on Method
     *
     * @return response()
     */
    public function submitForm()
    {
        Product::create([
            'name' => $this->name,
            'amount' => $this->amount,
            'description' => $this->description,
            'stock' => $this->stock,
            'status' => $this->status,
        ]);

        $this->successMessage = 'Product Created Successfully.';

        $this->clearForm();

        $this->currentStep = 1;
    }

    /**
     * Write code on Method
     *
     * @return response()
     */
    public function back($step)
    {
        $this->currentStep = $step;
    }

    /**
     * Write code on Method
     *
     * @return response()
     */
    public function clearForm()
    {
        $this->name = '';
        $this->amount = '';
        $this->description = '';
        $this->stock = '';
        $this->status = 1;
    }
}

After that, Navigate to resources/views/livewire folder and open wizard.blade.php file. Then add the following code into your wizard.blade.php file:

<div>

@if(!empty($successMessage))
<div class="alert alert-success">
   {{ $successMessage }}

@endif

<div class="stepwizard">

Step 7: Create Blade View and Import Form Wizard Components

In this step, Navigate to routes folder and open web.php. Then add the following routes into your web.php file:

Route::get('wizard', function () {
    return view('welcome');
});

Step 7: Create View File

In this step, navigate to resources/views/ folder and open welcome.blade.php file. Then add the following code into your welcome.blade.php file:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="{{ str_replace('_', '-', app()->getLocale()) }}">

Note that, if you want to add HTML(blade views), CSS, and script code into your livewire files. So, you can use @livewireStyles, @livewireScripts, and @livewire(‘ blade views’).

Step 8: Run Development Server

Finally, you need to run the following PHP artisan serve command to start your laravel livewire form wizard or multi step form app:

php artisan serve

If you want to run the project diffrent port so use this below command

php artisan serve --port=8080

Now, you are ready to run laravel livewire form wizard app. So open your browser and hit the following URL into your browser:

http://localhost:8000/wizard
